Carole Gallagher

Gallagher has published, exhibited, and lectured widely, and has been the recipient of numerous awards, grants, and honors, including a grant in 1988 from the MacArthur Foundation’s Program on International Peace and Security. Gallagher’s influential photographs and journalism concerning the nuclear weapons complex have been published in The New York Times, Newsweek, The Independent Sunday Magazine (London), The Times of London, The Washington Post, theSan Francisco Chronicle, theLos Angeles Times, and The Boston Globe, among others. The Leo Castelli Gallery in New York City exhibited her early work from 1979 to 1981, and the International Center of Photography in New York, the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago, and San Francisco Camerawork exhibited her photographs from American Ground Zero: The Secret Nuclear War (MIT Press, 1993).
