Igor Sutyagin

Igor Sutyagin is a Russian arms control and nuclear weapons specialist. He is Senior Research Fellow for Russian Studies at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) in London, where his research focuses on US-Russian relations, nuclear arms control, and anti-ballistic missile defense systems. Sutyagin received a master’s degree in radiophysics and electronics from Moscow State University. He completed his PhD in the history of foreign policy and international relations at the Institute for US and Canadian Studies, a think tank that is part of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow, where he worked for 12 years in the Political-Military Studies Department. He has written extensively on nuclear and conventional arms control, including naval arms control, and is the coauthor of the book Russian Strategic Nuclear Weapons.
