Welcoming new Governing Board members

The Governing Board of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists is delighted to announce new members effective immediately. We are honored to welcome Misho Ceko and Stephanie Woodson into their new roles.

Misho Ceko is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Senior Associate Dean of Business Operations at the University of Chicago’s Harris School of Public Policy. He was previously the COO for the Chicago Children’s Choir and worked for the United Nations in Mozambique on the Delivering as One initiative under former Secretary General Kofi Annan. Ceko worked as a senior strategy consultant in Accenture’s public sector practice. He holds an MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management, and a BS in bioengineering from the University of Illinois.

“We are proud to be housed in the Harris School of Public Policy and I am optimistic that Misho’s joining the Board will help us continue to deepen and strengthen ties between the two organizations,” said Bulletin president and CEO, Rachel Bronson. “Even before joining the Board, Misho was a strong advocate for the Bulletin. I’m looking forward to working with him in this new capacity.”

Said Ceko, “Furthering the essential mission of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists is a natural extension of my work at the Harris School. It is crucial in this era of “the new abnormal” that evidence-based analysis and policy solutions are communicated to the public. Clearly, the Bulletin‘s work is more relevant than ever, and I’m excited to be a part of it.”

Stephanie Woodson has worked in higher education for nearly 20 years as consultant, strategist, entrepreneur, new product designer, and general manager. She was an executive at one of the earliest online learning ventures, UNext.com; most recently, she launched and served as the executive director of Integrated Education Solutions (IES), Adtalem Global Education’s external facing division. Prior to that she headed Adtalem’s corporate strategy organization. Woodson has a background in management consulting.

“I am thrilled to welcome Stephanie Woodson,” said John Balkcom, chair of the Bulletin’s Governing Board. “Her experience in the world of digital education and communications will provide us with much-needed expertise during this time of disruption and change in the media world; I look forward to our work together on the Governing Board.”

Said Woodson, “I couldn’t be happier to deepen my investment in this organization by stepping into a leadership role. Advancing the vital work of the Bulletin to new audiences and stakeholders is critical as we continue to strive toward a safer and healthier planet.”

The Bulletin’s Governing Board is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the organization; ensuring the organization operates in a legal, ethical and professional manner; participating in Doomsday Clock discussions; representing the organization at public events; and assisting in raising funds for the Bulletin’s continued operation and fiscal stability.
