The first Democratic presidential debates of the 2020 cycle will be held tonight and Thursday night from the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami, Florida. We’ve created an existential threat debate scorecard so you can keep track of who does and doesn’t want to talk about some of the most important issues.
These first debates matter because they offer the moderators an opportunity to inject substance into the campaign at an early stage. So click here to download and print out a scorecard for each debate and follow along to see how many of the candidates address the issues of nuclear weapons (no first use, sole launch authority, low-yield nuclear weapons, the North Korean arsenal, or the Iran nuclear deal); climate change (Green New Deal, cap-and-trade, carbon tax, nuclear energy, electric cars, solar/wind energy); and disruptive technologies (killer robots, deep fakes/Nancy Pelosi video, AI/Terminator, Russian election interference, regulation of Facebook).
