At the first Earth Day in 1970, around 10 percent of all Americans marched, spoke, and organized on behalf of planet Earth. Today, we are witnessing growing global activism that demands political leaders take seriously the growing climate crisis. The Bulletin first began publishing on the changing climate in 1961 and by 1978, our cover story “Is mankind warming the Earth?” answered yes, definitively. Today, we continue to amplify the voices of scientists and experts demanding more urgent action.
