We at the Bulletin are enormously grateful to Wintrust Bank for living up to its mission of supporting Chicago’s small business and not-for-profit sector. Unlike other banks that gave preference to bigger corporations with larger endowments, Wintrust worked closely with the Bulletin to secure a Payroll Protection Plan loan not withstanding our small size and limited resources.
We gratefully announce that the Bulletin has been awarded two months of payroll protection, ensuring our ability to navigate these tumultuous times in the short and medium-term. This comes as an enormous relief as media companies around the world are getting pummeled economically while at the same time experiencing record-levels of readership. In this, the Bulletin is no exception. In March and April, we received nearly a million visitors to our website each month as global audiences sought verifiable reporting on the coronavirus and other global threats. That being said, we, like others, are operating from our homes and are at the mercy of global economic trends.
We are so thankful to Wintrust, whose mission to “provide Illinois with the resources of a big bank while maintaining the personalized service of a true local community bank” will allow the Bulletin to soldier on just when you need us most.
And we are deeply grateful to all of our donors large and small, who continue to support us during these difficult times. We can’t do what we are doing without you.
In gratitude,
Rachel Bronson
