Conversations Before
Midnight 2026

What future will we choose?

Bulletin Science and Security Board chair Daniel Holz appears in a video shown at last year’s Conversations Before Midnight, which was held on November 12, 2025.

This year, Conversations Before Midnight will focus on the future of governing existential threats following the midterm elections.

Conversations Before Midnight is the Bulletin's annual signature event, which raises critical funds to sustain our nonprofit newsroom's independent journalism and expert analysis—work the world relies on to understand and respond to existential risks when it matters most.

This year’s gathering takes on special significance. Coming just days after the 2026 U.S. midterm elections, we will bring together members of our Board of Sponsors, Science and Security Board, and Governing Board to ask the questions that matter most: what do the results mean for nuclear risk, climate change, and the rise of disruptive technologies—and what must we do about it? The evening features a new format: a distinguished panel discussion followed by an exclusive dinner at Venue SIX10.

During a year marked by attacks on science, your attendance helps power the Bulletin’s unmatched editorial efforts to continuously ensure that existential threats do not go unnoticed, unchallenged, or forgotten.

More details will be announced as speakers are confirmed.
