Brill is a retired career diplomat with senior-level experience in a variety of policy and geographic issues. He served as US Ambassador to the IAEA and the UN Office in Vienna (2001-04) and founding director of the US National Counterproliferation Center (2005-2009). Earlier assignments included acting-Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs, Ambassador to the Republic of Cyprus, Deputy Chief of Mission and acting-Ambassador in New Delhi, and Political Counselor in Amman, Jordan. He is a member of the Fissile Materials Working Group.
