David A. Kirby

David A. Kirby is chair of the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies and professor of Science, Technology & Society at Cal Poly University-San Luis Obispo. He was a practicing evolutionary geneticist before leaving bench science to become a scholar of science communication. He is author of Lab Coats in Hollywood: Science, Scientists and Cinema (MIT Press, 2011) and co-author of Demons of the Mind: Psychiatry and Film in the Long 1960s (Oxford University Press, 2023).
