Solón is the executive director of Focus on the Global South, an activist think tank that challenges neoliberalism and corporate-driven globalization and advances just alternatives. From 2009 to 2011, he was the Plurinational State of Bolivia’s ambassador to the United Nations, serving as chief negotiator on climate change and spearheading successful efforts toward UN resolutions on harmony with nature and the human right to water. Previously, he was Bolivia’s ambassador for trade and integration issues and secretary pro tempore of the Union of South American Nations.
