The newest member of the Bulletin’s staff is Marina Barbera, a former Individual Giving Officer and Program Coordinator at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. Serving as the advancement services coordinator, Barbera will help advance the Bulletin’s mission to reduce man-made threats to human existence through fundraising efforts.

The Bulletin is thrilled to welcome Marina Barbera as its new advancement services coordinator.

“Marina Barbera’s experience in donor cultivation and stewardship will be an invaluable addition to Bulletin’s fundraising efforts,” said the Bulletin’s Chief Advancement Officer Stephanie Carper. “We are honored to have her join our mission to reduce man-made threats to human existence.”

Previously, Barbera worked for the  Chicago Council on Global Affairs starting in development with individual giving and later transitioning to program coordinating for the Center on Global Food and Agriculture. In these roles, she served as a point of contact for thousands of general members, coordinated member renewals and acquisition appeals, and tracked fundraising efforts, promotions, and donor cultivation.

Barbera aims to gain experience in public policy and global governance, sustainable urban planning, conflict mediation, and international development.

She holds dual BAs in Global Studies and Communication Advocacy from Loyola University Chicago, where she also led the university’s Bioethics Bowl team to a national championship.

Outside of work, she enjoys playing soccer, painting, and spending time outdoors.
