Twila Moon is deputy lead scientist and science communication liaison at the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC), part of the University of Colorado – Boulder’s Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences. Moon studies connections across ice, climate, ocean, and ecosystem, with a focus on Greenland and the Arctic. Moon is a NOAA Arctic Report Card lead editor, US Polar Research Board member, and spearheads knowledge exchanges amongst researchers and with decision makers. She studied and led research at Stanford University, the University of Washington, the University of Oregon, and the University of Bristol (UK) before returning to the NSIDC in 2017.
