Garrett Hinck

Garrett Hinck is a doctoral student at Columbia University in the Department of Political Science focusing on international relations and security. His research examines the circumstances under which intelligence collection can lead to escalation of disputes between rivals. He is also interested in nuclear deterrence and US foreign policy. Before enrolling at Columbia, Hinck worked at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, where he was a James C. Gaither Junior Fellow in the Cyber Policy Initiative and Nuclear Policy Program. His work has been published in the Washington Post, War on the Rocks, Lawfare, the Journal of National Security Law and Policy, and the UN Institute for Disarmament Research. He graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.
