Rebecca Davis Gibbons is an assistant professor of political science at the University of Southern Maine and an associate at the Project on Managing the Atom at the Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. Her research focuses on the nuclear nonproliferation regime, arms control, disarmament, and global order. After college, she taught elementary school within the Bikini community on Kili Island in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. Her academic writing has been published in journals including Comparative Strategy, the Journal of Global Security Studies, the Journal of Strategic Studies, Washington Quarterly, the Nonproliferation Review, and Parameters. Her public affairs commentary has been featured in Arms Control Today, The Hill, U.S. News & World Report, War on the Rocks, and the Washington Post’s Monkey Cage.
