Look who’s writing for us

By Bulletin Staff | December 6, 2017

The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists is pleased to announce the addition of two new columnists to our roster of contributors. Kurt Zenz House and Duyeon Kim join the Bulletin with the scientific and technical expertise that Bulletin readers have come to expect in our pages.

Duyeon Kim is a visiting senior fellow at the Korea Peninsula Future Forum, a think tank run by former South Korean national security advisor Ambassador Chun Yung-woo. Her column will cover nuclear security and geopolitical affairs on the Korean Peninsula and across Northeast Asia. Kim was an associate in the nuclear policy and Asia programs at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and previously a senior fellow and deputy director of nuclear nonproliferation at the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation in Washington, D.C. She is a former correspondent with South Korea’s Arirang TV; there, she primarily covered North Korea, the Six-Party Talks, South Korean diplomacy and politics, inter-Korean relations, and US-Korea relations.

Kurt Zenz House is the chief executive and a co-founder of C12 Energy. Beginning in spring of 2018, his column will cover the science and economics of mitigating climate change. For nearly a decade, House has studied the physics, chemistry, and economics of capturing and storing anthropogenic carbon dioxide in ways that will ensure that carbon dioxide does not enter the atmosphere. In 2007, Esquire featured him among its “Best and Brightest;” in 2009, Technology Review named him one of the “Top 35 Innovators Under 35;” and in 2010 the Boston Globe named him one of Boston’s “Top 15 Innovators.”
