Fischhoff is Howard Heinz University Professor in the Department of Social and Decision Sciences and Department of Engineering and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University. He is a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies and currently chairs the National Research Council Committee on Behavioral and Social Science Research to Improve Intelligence Analysis for National Security, as well as the Food and Drug Administration Risk Communication Advisory Committee. He is a past president of the Society for Risk Analysis and of the Society for Judgment and Decision Making. He has co-authored or edited four books, including Risk Communication: A Mental Models Approach (2002).
