Motion S4M-12482: Bill Kidd, Scottish Parliament member
Date Lodged: 02/27/2015
That the Parliament notes that the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists' Doomsday Clock has been moved from five minutes to midnight to three minutes to midnight as a result of the Ukraine crisis; understands that an article in the German publication, Der Spiegel, claims that the danger of nuclear war is as great as it has ever been and is possibly greater than it was during the Cold War; recalls the decision of the recent Vienna Conference on the Humanitarian Impact of Nuclear Weapons that operational nuclear weapons readiness should be lowered by all the possessor states and particularly by the USA and Russia and that the legal gap should be filled by instituting a nuclear weapons ban, and looks to a future in which all nuclear arsenals worldwide are decommissioned.
