Aron Bernstein is emeritus professor of physics at MIT, whose faculty he joined in 1961. His research was in nuclear and particle physics, with an emphasis on the basic symmetries of matter. Since 1969 he has been active in nuclear arms control, chairing an FAS chapter at MIT and speaking out against the “star wars” anti-ballistic missile program. He continues to work with the Union of Concerned Scientists in its efforts to educate Congress about arms control.
