Arthur C. Clarke, a science and science fiction writer who has lived in Sri Lanka for 30 years, is chancellor of the International Space University and the inventor of the communications satellite. He is the author of more than 70 books, including Childhood’s End and 2001: A Space Odyssey, (with Stanley Kubrick), and How the World Was One: Beyond the Global Village (forthcoming).
