The authoritative guide to ensuring science and technology make life on Earth better, not worse.
Bernd Grambow is a radiochemist and emeritus professor at IMT Atlantique. He obtained his diploma and doctoral thesis at the Free University of Berlin and his Habilitation to Conduct Research (HDR) diploma at the University of Nantes. For 45 years, Grambow has been working on radioactive waste management—from the chemistry and thermodynamics of radionuclides in a natural environment to the behavior of concrete, graphite, nuclear glass, and nuclear fuels in geological disposal environments. He was director of the Subatech research laboratory (UMR 6457) in France (2011-2018) and led a research group on radiochemistry at interfaces at the Advanced Science Research Center of the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (2015-2022).
