The authoritative guide to ensuring science and technology make life on Earth better, not worse.
Brett Edwards is a lecturer at the University of Bath in the United Kingdom. His work focuses on global weapon prohibition norms. Before taking up his current role, Edwards held a number of research positions and completed a Wellcome Trust–funded fellowship at the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology. He was awarded his doctorate from the University of Bath in 2014. His thesis compared national approaches to addressing concerns about the misuse of cutting-edge biotechnology in the United States and the United Kingdom, with a particular emphasis on the field of synthetic biology. Edwards is grateful for sponsorship from the BioBricks Foundation and from the biosecurity fellowship program at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, which allowed him to attend SB7.0, a synthetic biology meeting recently held in Singapore.
