Daniel Metlay, now an independent researcher, served as a task force director on the Secretary of Energy Advisory Board during the George W. Bush administration and for nearly thirty years afterwards as a member of the senior professional staff of the Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board. Previously he had taught at Indiana University, Bloomington, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is the author of the forthcoming book High-Activity Nuclear Waste Management Policy: Becoming a Responsible Ancestor (Routledge, 2026).
