Erik Gartzke

Erik Gartzke is a professor of political science and director of the Center for Peace and Security Studies at the University of California, San Diego. He was previously a member of the faculty at Columbia University (New York) and Pennsylvania State University, as well as holding visiting positions at Sciences Po, the Naval Postgraduate School, Dartmouth, and elsewhere. Professor Gartzke has published roughly 80 articles and books in the most prominent peer reviewed journals in political science and has been listed as one of the most heavily cited scholars in the study of international security. He is an expert on the causes of war and peace, nuclear and cyber security, as well as alliances, economic interdependence, and nuclear deterrence.
