The authoritative guide to ensuring science and technology make life on Earth better, not worse.

Gavin Schmidt

Schmidt is a climate modeler at NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies. Using atmospheric general-circulation models, as well as coupled ocean-atmosphere models, he investigates the interactions between large-scale climate systems such as ocean and wind currents to understand natural variability and how climate responds to human-made forcings. He also works to reconcile paleo-climate data from ice cores, tree rings, and other proxies with modern-day climate models. In addition, he’s an associate editor at the Journal of Climate.
