A former member of the Bulletin‘s Science and Security Board, Sims is director of intelligence studies and a visiting professor in the Security Studies Program at Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service. She is also a consultant on intelligence and homeland security for private corporations and the US government. In 2008, the President of the United States appointed her to the Public Interest Declassification Board, which advises the president on the declassification policies of the US government. In 1998, Sims received the intelligence community’s highest civilian award, the National Distinguished Service Medal.
