John Morales is an atmospheric & environmental scientist, and a fellow of the American Meteorological Society. He is chief meteorologist for WTVJ NBC6-TV in Miami, and the longest tenured weathercaster in South Florida. He was inducted into the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Silver Circle for distinguished work in broadcasting. He serves on the Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability external advisory board, is vice president of the CLEO Institute’s board of directors, and in 2000 wrote Huracanes, a Spanish-language reference book on hurricanes. Morales, a Bulletin columnist, was previously a member of the Bulletin Editorial Fellows Program.
