Manpreet Sethi

Sethi is a distinguished fellow at the Centre for Air Power Studies in New Delhi where she heads its program on nuclear issues. She is also a Senior Research Advisor at the Asia Pacific Leadership Network. Since receiving her doctorate in 1997, she has worked on nuclear energy, strategy, missile defense, arms control, nuclear risk reduction, and disarmament. Over 130 papers have been written, and nine books authored, co-authored, or edited by Sethi. She lectures at the National Defence College and other establishments of the Indian Armed Forces, Police, Foreign Services, and Universities. She is co-chair of the Working Group on Reducing Pathways to Nuclear Use at Harvard University’s Belfer Center and co-chair of Women in Nuclear–India. She is a Board Member of the Missile Dialogue Initiative, IISS. She is the recipient of the K Subrahmanyam Award (2014), Commendation by Chief of Air Staff (2020), and Commendation by Commander-in-Chief, Strategic Forces Command (2022). She is a member of the International Group of Eminent Persons selected by Japan’s Prime Minister to explore possibilities of nuclear elimination.
