Ravindranath is a professor at the Centre for Sustainable Technologies at the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore. His research interests include climate change impacts and mitigation, climate adaptation in the land use and forest sector, and renewable energy. He has contributed to a number of assessment reports for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and advises many organizations, including the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the World Bank, and the United Nations Development Programme. Among his four books related to climate change and bioenergy is Carbon Inventory Methods. He received a doctorate in economics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.
