Najmedin Meshkati

Najmedin Meshkati is a professor at the University of Southern California’s Viterbi School of Engineering, where he holds joint appointments in the Sonny Astani Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Daniel J. Epstein Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering. He served as a Jefferson Science Fellow and a senior science and engineering advisor in the Office of Science and Technology Advisor to the Secretary of State from 2009 to 2010. Meshkati teaches and conducts research on human factors and safety culture in the nuclear power industry and has inspected many nuclear power plants around the world, including Chernobyl (in 1997) and Fukushima Daiichi and Daini (in 2012).
