Based at the Center for Arms Control and Nonproliferation, the working group is dedicated to preventing the development of biochemical agents as weapons, promoting international measures to observe bioweapon activities, and monitoring U.S. biodefense and anti-bioterrorism activities. Its members have extensive experience with bioweapon issues and have an array of technical expertise that they contribute on a voluntary basis. The working group was established in 1989.
