Shawn Pruchnicki

Shawn Pruchnicki has a Ph.D in cognitive engineering and is an assistant professor at The Ohio State University where he teaches both cognitive engineering and numerous aviation subjects. He was an airline pilot for over a decade in some of the world’s busiest airspace and is still a certified flight instructor at all three levels. During his time at the airline, he also served as the Director of Human Factors for ALPA national and was ALPAs Chief Accident Investigator at his airline. Additionally, he was frequently requested to join FAA and industry committees that delt with dozens of national safety initiatives ranging from airspace redesign and safety-based regulation changes to crash survivability changes to name just a few. Prior to coming to Ohio State, he worked at the NASA Ames facility in the Human Systems Integration Division.
