Thomas Bates

Thomas Bates is the director of the Biodefense Knowledge Center and leads the Chemical and Biological Threat Awareness Program at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. An epidemiologist by training, he has 20 years’ experience analyzing biodefense issues, including systems analyses of bioterrorism and agroterrorism events to optimize prevention, detection, and response actions.
