 Edmund G. Brown Jr., Former Governor, State of California

Jerry Brown is the executive chair of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. He served an historic four terms as Governor of the State of California; during the last two terms, his administration established nation-leading targets to protect the environment and fight climate change. Brown has been sounding the alarm about the risks of nuclear weapons since the 1970s; his position with the Bulletin continues his work on climate change, nuclear risk.

 William J. Perry,  Former US Secretary of Defense

Dr. William Perry is chair of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists Board of Sponsors. He served as US Secretary of Defense from 1994 to 1997, leading efforts to secure nuclear stockpiles inherited by former Soviet states and presiding over the dismantlement of more than 8,000 nuclear weapons. In 2013, Perry created the William J. Perry Project to engage and educate the public on the dangers of nuclear weapons in the 21st century, a danger that he states is greater now than during the height of the Cold War.
