Prof. Dimie Ogoina is a Professor of Medicine and Infectious Diseases at the Niger Delta University and an infectious diseases physician at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital, Okolobiri, Bayelsa, Nigeria. Prof. Ogoina’s team diagnosed and managed the first case of mpox in Nigeria during the 2017 outbreak. His team was also the first to report the potential of transmission of mpox via sexual contact.
