The authoritative guide to ensuring science and technology make life on Earth better, not worse.
William J. Weber is a professor emeritus at the University of Tennessee. Before retiring, he was the Governor’s Chair Professor for radiation effects in materials at the University of Tennessee with a joint appointment at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Previously, he was a laboratory fellow at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Over his career, his research has encompassed experimental and theoretical aspects of the interaction of radiation and charged particles with solids, effects of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation on materials, ion beam modification of materials, defects and defect-property relationships in materials, long-term performance of nuclear materials, and physics of radiation detectors.
